Big news!

Tonight some awesome news came to my attention regarding a very good friend of mine. I'm not sure I'm at liberty to spill the beans on this exciting announcement just yet. Let's just say it's a guy we all know because of his love for skiing and snowboarding and for his commitment to the Winter sports scene in the South. Stay tuned...

This weekend...

Alot of winter events are taking place this weekend. Friday night in the old city, there is a premier for the new Never Summer snowboard video. Everyone should go and give the General a high five! Saturday at App is the Rome Pre Jibulation contest, and of course The looche and App will be opening up for some shred time this weekend due to this fantastic winter weather. Hit the mountains this weekend and get your shred on!

HAPPY TURKEY DAY

Happy Thanksgiving fellow riders,

Thanksgiving is most definitely the best holiday of the year, you get to spend quality time with your family and friends, and you can eat to your hearts content and still not feel guilty while eating desert right after, but most importantly of all Thanksgiving is a time where you can reflect on what really makes you happy.

For myself, I have a lot to be thankful for. Starting with my family, who might possibly be some of the most fun and all around great people you could ever meet. If you have ever had a chance to meet them you know what I am talking about and you can see how my personality came into play. My parents have always kept me in line while still having fun 90% of the time, and my bro is the most special person in my life and I will always have him on my right side. We didn’t grow up in the most high scale of places, we are definitely a working class family at its finest, and I will never ask for anything more. As a family we have lost a lot and gained just as much, but those are the facts of life that everyone deals with at one time or another. Nothing makes me happier than to have them in my life. My friends are in my heart just as much as my family, If I gave specific shoutouts you all would be cycling through a lot of names just for the fact that a lot of people have touched me so far. I have seen the good, bad, and the ugly in the majority of them and could never turn my back completely to any of them.

More important of all I am thankful for this thing that we call skiing and snowboarding. This sport that we partake in is completely incredible, every time I click those skis in nothing else in the world matters anymore. I could care less about riding a rail, taking off a jump, shredding powder, or sloshing through the slush and “loose granular” that we have grown to love at Ober. Every problem that has ever been on my shoulders vanishes just by charging through the snow. Personally skiing has shaped my life for the better and I can only dream that I will be doing it until I am placed 6 feet deep. To me, skiing has lost its literal meaning as a sport, and become a lifestyle that I have a hard time putting into words.

I want everyone to have a fun year on the slopes. Who cares if you don’t happen to land that next big trick, keep practicing and having fun until you stomp it someday. Come say hey if you ever see me on the mountain, I am always down to ride with whoever whenever and give high-fives until our hands are numb.

Much love to my family and friends, you guys are always in my heart. Pa, Aunt Velinda, and everyone else who happens to not be with me anymore, I love you and think about you everyday.

Tonight at the Boardroom is a premiere for Red Bull's new video The Art of Flight. There will be a FREE prize raffle as well as FREE Red Bulls at the shop. The video starts at 8, so everyone stop by and watch an amazing video and get ya some free Red Bulls!

Meet aGNARchy

For the next five weeks, we will be doing an interview with each contributor to the site for you all to hate on, love on, whatever you wanna do. If there is something you want to ask a particular contributor each week, post it on the interview related status on facebook. If we use your question in an interview, you win a free die-cut. Who doesn't like free die-cuts? Nobody that's who. This week belongs to the ginger we all know and love and the only skier in the group, Paul Dunn. So hit up the facebook and ask away. Keep the ginger jokes to a minimum everybody, Paul is very sensitive about his disease.

So as many of you have heard, Catalooche opened this weekend. Well tomorrow some of us from the site will be there tomorrow as well as some homies from the Knoxville area getting our shred on. Expect pictures to be put up on our FB and the site from opening weekend. Who knows, if we see some of you guys killing it tomorrow we may give you a little shout out on FB as well as on here. Welcome....

Sean Panella. If you don't know Sean, well this is all you need to know...he kills everything. Chances are you'll see him at ober hucking himself down the down-flat-down (if you havent seen that footage, youre missing out) or doing some ridiculous off the wall maneuver. First time I met Sean was at Cat many winters ago. I was just starting to get comfortable on a board when I went to Cat with some friends and we met up with Nick Grindstaff and Lane Stith. Lane introduced me to him, they're family not a gay couple for any of those out there who know them, and he was killing it back then when everybody wanted to look like a technine team rider. It was Sean and Lane's blog SouthernFriedShreds that gave me the idea to start a blog of my own so to have him become a part of my site is pretty awesome. Welcome to the team big homie.

I personally feel kinda bad that you guys have decided to not continue blogging. You guys were the ones who gave me the idea to start up this site. You guys are all incredibly good friends of mine and very talented snowboards and I openly welcome everyone who ran the blog to come contribute to southeast aGNARchy. You guys can all shred with the best of them and I hope you take me up on this offer. You guys joining the site would be a great addition.
